Supporting recycling improvements
Due to continual increase in production, British Gypsum established a requirement to increase the size of their waste product storage area. This included providing protection from the external elements to enable the waste product to be recycled. We were appointed by the client to adapt and enlarge the existing scrap bunker storage bays and construct a new building enclosure to protect the waste product.
The works were completed within the existing manufacturing site which maintained full operation throughout the duration of the project.
The works
- Demolition of the existing external canopy and reinforced concrete walls.
- Saw cutting and breaking out the existing concrete slab area to facilitate the new foundations.
- Reinforced concrete foundations.
- Erection of new steelwork portal frame structure including single skin wall and roof cladding.
- Reinforced concrete walls and column casings including extensions to the existing material storage bay walls.
- Installation of industrial doors.
- Adaptations and connections to the existing surface water drainage system.
- Concrete paving to the perimeter of the building.
