50MW solar farm development
Enhancing our reputation within the ever expanding renewables sector, we were approached by Equans to construct the civils infrastructure for the new £30 million 50MW solar farm development on 47 hectares of land straddling the A180 to the south east of Immingham.
Our works package included the installation of the temporary site compounds, access roads, drainage works, and foundations for the transformer equipment and CCTV columns.
To provide cost savings to the client, improve the programme timescale and reduce the quantity of imported hardcore material, we provided a value engineered solution for the new access roads using a geogrid system and recycled aggregates. This also helped to reduce the carbon impact of the project.
We were also awarded the project by Northern Powergrid to construct their new switchroom building located within the Mauxhall Farm development.
The works
- Site establishment and enabling works, including crossings to the existing drainage ditches.
- 6,000m2 of temporary compound areas.
- 10,000m2 of access roads.

- Piled foundations for the transformer equipment.
- Concrete foundations for the CCTV columns.
