New shunt reactor
As part of their shunt reactor programme and through our civils framework, National Grid appointed us to deliver the construction infrastructure works for the new shunt reactor installation at Stocksbridge 400kv Substation.
A challenge was presented due to the confined nature of the site and the requirement to maintain the operations of the live substation throughout the duration of the project. Our project team were exemplary in the delivery of the works, and we were highly commended by National Grid for both the quality of works and our health, safety and environmental performance.
Due to our success on the project, we have been awarded further works at other substation sites under the shunt reactor programme.
The works

- Construction of a new reinforced concrete shunt reactor bund.
